Jill Ayn Schneider is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and musician. She has been compared to Neil Young by her producer, Howie Hersh, on account of how prolific she is. She began to play in ’66, just after graduating college and starting a teaching career. Her knowledge of folk music, jazz, Latin, rock n’ roll, and Broadway influenced her present-day eclectic styles. She grew up in New York and could access some of the most excellent musicians back in the 50s,60s, and 70s. Jill Ayn worked for Bo Diddley in the 80s on his Florida ranch. She stayed friendly with him and his family for twenty-five years until his death. Watch an older video of Jill Ayn at the bottom of this page, where Bo Diddley is singing with her on her original song called Love Sweet Love. Not too many people have been backed by the great Bo Diddley. It was recorded in his barn/recording studio.
There are 8 songs that were produced by two different producers, both with their own exciting styles. Howie Hersh, who produced Joe Cocker, Tracy Chapman, Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, etc., was my first producer. He produced Every Game in the Book, Key to My Heart, Soaring Kind, and Nothin’s Perfect. Rob Kane, who I met in Burnsville, NC, produced I Believe It’s My Time, Romance of Life, Back to My Roots, and Meant to Be. He will be producing more songs with me in the future.
At 77, Jill is still writing, recording, and performing in her locale of Western North Carolina. Jill is open to playing for house concerts, so if you like what you hear below, give her a holler. Her memoir, Cancer and The Power of Rage, will soon be published and recorded as an Audiobook. It will have these songs below in between the chapters of her audiobook. email Jill for her local live performances.
My song I Believe It’s My Time is the theme for a documentary called I Believe It’s My Time, by filmmaker and best friend Katie Haley. Check out the trailer.
