Kelly Turner, Ph.D. is the New York Times bestselling author of Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds, now in 22 languages, which summarizes her research into the radical remission of cancer – when someone heals from cancer in a statistically unlikely way without Western medicine or after Western medicine has failed. Her highly anticipated new book, Radical Hope: 10 Key Healing Factors from Exceptional Survivors of Cancer & Other Diseases, is also available!
Over the past decade, she has conducted research in 10 different countries and analyzed over 1,500 cases of radical remission. She is a frequent guest on The Dr. Oz Show and holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from California, Berkeley.
Kelly has recently adapted her bestselling book into a fictional, feature-length screenplay entitled OPEN-ENDED TICKET, a finalist for the 2019 Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab. This film tells the story of a cancer patient who takes her best friend on an around-the-world journey to find her estranged father before it’s too late. In their race against time, a string of unexpected events makes them question everything they thought they knew about life, death, and healing. A staged reading of this screenplay was held in October in NYC.
Finally, Kelly also developed a reality docuseries that covered each of the nine healing factors from her research and featured many of the Radical Remission survivors from the book. This docuseries aired in March 2020 and plans to air again in Fall 2020. She is also the founder of the Radical Remission Project website, which continues to collect new cases of Radical Remission and offers online courses, in-person workshops, and one-on-one health coaching.
Excerpt from her second book called Radical Hope by Dr. Kelly Turner, NY Times Best Selling Author of Radical Remission about Jill Ayn Schneider.
“For example, radical remission survivor Jill Ayn Schneider embodies the essence of global spirituality because she weaves together a quilt of beliefs worldwide. In 1975, at age 29, Jill was diagnosed with class 5 cervical cancer after two positive Pap smears. Doctors did not stage cervical cancer into four stages as they do now. Instead, they separated cases into classes—class 1 was considered healthy/ normal, and class 5, the highest, was considered the most serious. Because of her two subsequent class 5 Pap smears, her doctor wanted her to have an immediate hysterectomy. However, Jill’s intuition told her that she should not jump right into surgery. Instead, she asked for a month or so to try healing herself. Her doctor was furious and stormed out of the room. Nevertheless, Jill held firm to her instincts and started taking Chinese herbs, meditating, receiving acupuncture treatments, and eating a Japanese macrobiotic diet (mostly brown rice, seasonal vegetables, miso soup, and legumes with smaller amounts of sea vegetables, nuts, and seeds). She also left her very stressful job. The results were almost immediate. I was studying the theory of Chinese medicine at the time, and I felt so connected that they didn’t call cancer anything more than an “imbalance.” That resonated with me. I didn’t have anxiety [about not doing conventional treatment]. After one month of herbs, acupuncture, and quitting a very stressful job, I felt I was getting better. I went to a new doctor who confirmed it. [The cancer classification] went from a 5 to a 3 in one month! So then I knew that I was going to be fine. I asked myself, “Where am I going to go next to heal?” I was like a child—I trusted the universe. Encouraged by how much she had healed in a month, Jill felt a spiritual call to trek across Venezuela and Peru, where she consulted with local shamans, enjoyed nature, and continued her macrobiotic diet. Upon returning to the U.S. five months later, she had another Pap smear and was classified as “class 1” (normal). She gave birth to her son two years later, and now she is “Nanny Jill” to two beautiful grandchildren. Jill believes she healed herself of advanced cervical cancer in six months thanks to deep spiritual work and a diet change that was being divinely guided. By deepening her daily spiritual connection practice, she could tap into the deeper current of “universal love” that many radical remission survivors describe. More than 40 years after her original diagnosis, Jill remains cancer-free. She spends her days leading people through healing seminars and retreats, guiding others to be more in tune with their true selves. To learn more about Jill, visit www.jillaynschneider.com.”
